Biography:
Randall Miguel Rojas Vasquez, lovingly known as “El Padre” by his grandson, who bears his namesake, entered eternal rest on March 13th, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving son, and protective older brother. He was also an adoring father to two boys, who have grown into incredible young men.
Born November 13th, 1978, in Grecia, Costa Rica, Randall was known among his family and friends for his warm heart, exuberant spirit, and limitless passion for living life. He was always there to offer a helping hand or a listening ear to people, whether they were longtime friends or his newest acquaintances. His boisterous laugh and love for storytelling always brought joy to those around him.
After his parents immigrated to the United States and settled in Houston, Texas in 1981, Randall attended and graduated from Klein Forest High School, where he excelled in football and soccer. After graduating from the University of Houston in 2003, Randall charted a professional path spanning over two decades in the banking industry. His work was not just a job but a platform for him to lead fundraising and educational initiatives across the Gulf Coast for underserved communities and people in need.
In 1999, he became a father for the first time and welcomedhis son, Estevan, with Angela (Franco) Zepeda. They were together until he was three but continued to co–parent, always keeping Estevan’s best interests at heart. Randall later met Shari and his second son, Tyler. He and Shari celebrated their nuptials in 2015 in his cherished homeland of Costa Rica (Pura Vida!) In 2022, the love in Randall’sheart infinitely expanded upon the arrival of his first and only grandchild, Lucas.
Randall spent his free time proudly cheering on his Houston Cougars, traveling around the globe, and blocking shots as the goalkeeper for numerous soccer teams in various leagues across the Houston area. Randall also enjoyed volunteering and finding ways to give back to the city and his alma mater. His passion for his community was vast, but his love for family and friends was even more boundless. His infectious smile, endless charisma, and commitment to making sure everyone had fun left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Randall’s legacy lives on in the memories of his loved ones. He is preceded in passing by his beloved grandmother, Magdalena. He is survived by his parents, Miguel and Rocio Vasquez-Rojas; his wife, Shari Bigelow-Rojas; his brother, Ernesto Rojas and his husband Richard de la Rosa; his two sons, Estevan Rojas and Tyler Shields and his wife Audrey Shields; and his grandson, Lucas Randall Shields.
While Randall may no longer be with us, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and countless others whose lives he has touched. He will continue to inspire and influence those who knew and loved him.
I will always be grateful that Jason & I had you and Shari as co-parents to Zack. I loved and will continue love Tyler and Estevan as they are my own. Nothing can ever fill the hole your absence has left… We will live by your example and be there for each other as we transition into this new world. I pray Ashley was there to greet you, as you two met for the first time.
